Half Interest in Indians Purchased
SPOKANE, March 18 — Dairy farmer Roy Hotchkiss, who owns half interest in the Spokane baseball club of the Western International league said Saturday negotiations are "virtually completed" for his purchase of the other half from J. Lamar Butler, a Los Angeles attorney.
The price under consideration was not announced.
Butler and Buddy Ryan of Yakima bought the club from Sam Collins of Spokane in 1948. Last February Ryan sold his interest to Hotchkiss.
Hotchkiss also took the occasion Saturday to announce a three-year improvement program at Ferris field, home of the Spokane club.
The park burned down in October, 1948, but was rebuilt last year.
The Indians start spring training March 27 at Lewiston but still haven't announced signing of a
single player. Spokane opens the season at home April 18 with Victoria.
