TACOMA, June 7—Thanks to some lusty hitting by his Tacoma Tiger mates Monday night at Spokane, Bob Kerrigan remains the Western International League's leading pitcher with 10 victories and nary a defeat.
The Tacoma southpaw, who racked up No. 10 when the Tigers broke a 4-all deadlock with a six-run uprising in the ninth inning, hasn't been too puzzling to enemy batsmen of late—he's given up 51 hits in his last four starts, 15 of them Monday night—but he's been tough with men on base.
Moreover, Kerrigan remains the league's most penurious pitcher in the matter of walks having issued free transportation to only 22 men in 95 2/3 innings of toil.
Lloyd Dickey, Yakima southpaw, took over the league strikeout lead by whiffing 22 batters in a pair of starts for a season's total of 80, seven more than Don Ferrarese of Wenatchee, the runner - up. Ferrarese remained the most liberal donor of free transportation, however, having walked 84 men.
