Salem May Take Over WIL Team
SALEM, Ore., Jan. 26—Twelve Salem businessmen offered yesterday to take over operation of the Salem baseball club of the Western International league.
Howard Maple, leader of the group, said the offer was made to the Portland Beavers, owner of the Salem team. He refused to say how much money was offered to the Beavers, or who the others in the group are.
Maple, who has been negotiating with the Beavers for months, said he thinks he has made an offer which the Beavers can accept.
