KENNEWICK, June 27 — The Tri-City Braves Tuesday night parlayed 14 walks into a runaway 15 to 2 victory over Wenatchee as Gene Roenspie won his seventh Western International league game without a loss.
Don Ferrarase opened on the mound for Wenatchee and walked 11 batters in three plus innings. He left in the fourth as the Braves started on a campaign that netted eight runs.

KENNEWICK, June 28 [Don Becker, Herald] — That left-hand pitching jinx that Wenatchee's hurlers had held over the Tri-City Braves faded like the romance of a summer cruise last night as the Braves hammered and walked to a 15-2 victory in a Western International League game, before 1,836 fans.
For the Braves league leader, Gene Roenspie right handed pitcher, it was the seventh victory against no losses. . .Don Ferraresse, who held one, and two hit decisions over the Braves, was burled under the barrage of base blows. It was his fifth defeat against nine victories.
TONIGHT'S STARTERS
Charlie Petersen, manager of the Tri-City club, has nominated a right hander for tonight's first game, with either Dick Stone (7-4) or lefty Bob Felizzatto (0-0) getting the nod for the nightcap. Bullet Joe Orrell will be seeking his seventh victory in the 7 p.m. seven inning opener. He has been charged with five losses to date.
But Tommy Thompson, pilot of the Chiefs, announced he is sending another pair of left handers against the Braves. Jay Ragni (10-3), who took over the first base chore when Jerry Ballard relieved Ferraresse in the fourth last night will open for Wenatchee, while Dave Dahle (4-4) will work the nine-inning nightcap.
Sixteen Braves got the green light to first base last night and nine of them scored. Big Nick Pesut, Tri-City catcher, personally accounted for five of them by blasting a double in the opening stanza with the bases loaded and added two more in the hectic fourth when eight Tri-City runs crossed the plate.
THE BIG FOURTH
That fourth spelled the doom for Wenatchee's starter, Ferrarase, He walked the first three men and then was derricked by manager Thompson with first baseman Ballard taking over Ballard got off to a slow start by issuing a free pass to Merle Frick. Then successive singles by Nell Bryant, Roenspie, and Al Spaeter brought the total to six. Pesut climaxed it by driving in two more of his five runs.
But the big hitting honors of the night belong to the losers. Larry Neal, Chief shortstop, hit a home run in the Wenachee fifth that topped all blows to date in Sanders Field. His mighty blast carried over the scoreboard at the 400 foot mark in center field, traveling an estimated 500 feet. Lil Arnerich was the other top extra base getter by hitting a triple in the first inning but he died when Walk Pocekay and Don Fracchia became easy infield outs.

VICTORIA, [Colonist, June 28, 1950]—John Marshall is one man who is certain of his capabilities. Informed Monday evening that Mel Knezovich would probably be his mound opponent in last night’s W.I.L. game against Tacoma, Marshall remarked, “Good. We can score three or four runs off that guy and that’ll be enough.”
HANDCUFFED TIGERS
And enough it would have been. The big righthander handcuffed the league leaders with four singles in one of his finest pitching performances while his teammates banged out 12 hits and took a 9-2 triumph. Five of the runs came off Knezovich in the seven innings he worked, while rookie Keith Bowman was tagged for four unearned runs in the eighth. Appropriately enough, last night’s score matches Marshall’s pitching record.
Smarting under two straight setbacks, the Tigers will likely shoot Bob Kerrigan, their 12-3 southpaw, against the A’s tonight. Jim Hedgecock has drawn the Victoria starting assignment for the series final. Spokane Indians, complete with Edo Vanni in the lead-off spot, move in tomorrow for four games
OWN LAPSES
Marshall had it last night. The frst two Tacoma hits were the result of his own fielding lapses in the first inning and gave the Bengals their first run. He got into a jam in the eighth when he walked two men after Joe Kronberg put the first man on with a wild heave to first base. The best the top of the Tacoma batting order could do was one run scored on an infield out.
Between the first and the eighth, Marshall was invincible with only two Tigers reaching the bags in the six and two-thirds innings. The Tacoma power was well shackled with Dick Greco, Wimpy Quinn and Dick Wenner getting only one hit—Greco’s ninth-inning singe—between them and drawing nary a base on balls. Catcher Bill Sheets, usually troublesome to Victorian pitchers, was another who went hitless.
BALK BALL
Victoria’s first run was an odd bit off fortune. Two were out when Bill Dunn walked. Kronberg had a 3-0 count when Knezovich’s fourth pitch, high and inside, was nullified on a balk call. Kronberg lost his base on balls but promptly plated Dunn with Victoria’s first hit.
Jim Wert started what proved to be the winning rally in the fourth when he led off with a long triple. He held as Gene Thompson grounded out. John Hack then walked and Dunn grounded through the middle, getting a close call at first base as the Tigers mussed a double play by the scantest of margins. Wert scored on the play and Dunn scored what proved to be the winning run a few minutes later as Ronning singled behind a base on balls by Kronberg.
Marshall capped his evening by leading off the seventh with a double. Junior Krug’s single and Thompson’s triple sent in two runs. Successive singles by Krug, Jim Moore and Wert accounted for four more runs in the eighth when they followed two errors and a balk.

Victoria ..... 010 200 23x—9 12 1

YAKIMA, June 27—Yakima rallied for two runs in the ninth inning to edge Salem Tuesday night 6-5 in the first game of their three-game series. Bulky Frank Mascara belted a double with the bases loaded to break up the game.
Jim Westlake opened the assault with a line single to the right. Lou Novikoff bunted and was safe when pitcher John Burak, who fielded the ball, threw it into the dirt at first. Rookie Jerry Zuvela laid down a perfect bunt to load the bases and set the stage for Mascara's drive to the centerfield fence.
Bob Cherry's double was the climax blow of Salem's three-run splurge in the third. In the fourth the Senators converted a squeeze play into two runs. Starting pitcher Bill Osborn bunted Wayne Peterson across and Osborn circled the bases on the play when Mascara threw the ball high over first base against the right field stands.
The Bears scored two in the fourth on three walks and two hits, including a double by Novikoff, and two more in the sixth when three singles loaded the bases and then Burak walked Pete Coscarart and Reno Cheso.

Vancouver Adds Beasley
RENO, Nev., June 28—Bud Beasley of Reno left yesterday for Vancouver, B.C., which is having its troubles in the Western International League. Bud still is property of Seattle Rainiers, who sent him the SOS to help the Capilanos. Whether he'll resume pitching or devote himself to coaching the Vancouver pltcners isn't known yet —but he took along his glove, anyway.
Stockton of the California League had been making tearful pleas for Beasley, too.

Chiefs Release Drew
WENATCHEE, Wash., June 27 (UP) — The Wenatchee Chiefs of the Western International League today announced the outright release of outfielder Al Drew.
Drew had been hitting .290. Manager George Clark said Drew was released so he could make a deal for himself. Drew played with Spokane and Victoria in the WIL last season and is the son of the former Cleveland ball player of the same name.
The Chiefs also announced that Bill Sibson, Vancouver, B. C., was being returned from Chaute, Kans., of the K.O.M. League.

McGuire New In WIL
SEATTLE, June 27—Bob McGuire, Washington State college outfielder, was signed tonight by the Seattle Rainiers and farmed to Victoria of the Western International League.

Pitching Leaders
TACOMA, June 28— Sandy Robertson of Vancouver and Gene Roenspie of Tri-City, each with six victories and ne defeats, remain tied for the Western International league pitching lead, it was disclosed in a statistical release Tuesday from the office of Robert B. Abel, president of the circuit.
Robertson, a stay-at-home who hurls only when the Capilanos are in Vancouver, barely got under the wire with win No. 6. which was achieved Monday night at Spokane's expense, 7-5, when Roenspie, who hit the half dozen mark last Friday by means of a five-hit masterpiece against the same Spokane club, 5-1, was due to go on the mound again Wednesday at Kennewick in the series opener with Wenatchee.
In warm contention for the lead once unbeaten leaders stumble are Tacoma's Bob Kerrigan, who picked up a pair of weekend wins for a 12-3 record. and Victoria's John Marshall, now thc possessor of an 8-2 mark after suffering his second setback Friday. Next in line are Jay Ragni of Wenatchee (10-3), Jim Holder of Spokane (5-2), and John Tierney of Salem (12-5).
Lloyd Dickey, Yakima southpaw, pulled farther away from the field m the strikeout race by racking up 16 additional whiffs during the week for a 109 total. Don Ferrarese of Wenatchee edged past teammate Tom Breisinger, 95 to 94, in the contest for second place, but remained the number one philanthropist with 110 walks in 102 innings. far and away the league's high total.
Yakima's Ted Savarese, having passed 20 batters in 94 innings, was still the league's most miserly elbower in that connection, closely followed by Kerrigan, who had issued only 30 in 126 frames.

The reference to Bill Sibson being returned to Vancouver from Chaute, Kansas. The correct spelling is Chanute, Kansas.
